Clearwater Camp for Girls is a place of wonder where girls come to build personal skills, friendships and memories in the Northwoods on Tomahawk Lake in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Since 1933, Clearwater has fostered confidence, courage, compassion and community – four points on Clearwater’s compass – by providing a traditional sleepaway camp for girls ages 8 to 16. We are American Camp Association accredited.

Clearwater is organized in 3 separate units of campers by age (Harbor: 8-10, Cape: 11-12 and Point: 13-16). In order to create a personalized experience and to build community between campers and staff, we limit enrollment to 120 campers per session. In addition, there are no more than 6 campers who live with a counselor in each of our historic, rustic cabins. Meals are served family-style and campers eat at a table with campers of all ages in order to foster community and expand campers’ ability to meet others. We honor many traditions that trace back to our founding in 1933 like singing after meals, Sunday Service, weekly Council Fire and many other special activities like regattas, horse shows, water shows, etc.

Clearwater offers a wide variety of activities like waterskiing, horseback riding, archery, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, arts & crafts, swimming, and tripping. Before arriving at Clearwater, each camper completes an Activity Preference form. Schedules are personalized, with time in favorite activities as well as opportunities to try some new ones. During the week there are also “Free Activities,” which include fun choices different from regularly scheduled activities. We believe that it benefits campers to be exposed to a variety of activities, including activities they have never tried before or maybe wouldn’t have originally chosen. These scheduled activity periods are balanced with times the campers can be self-directed, both during the ‘general’ time every day and several free activity periods each week.

In a rapidly changing world, Clearwater is a timeless place where kindness is kindled, respect is recognized and valued, unconditional love flourishes, inner strengths are revealed, and confidence and character are built.

Our Mission is to foster confidence, courage, compassion and community – four points on Clearwater’s compass – by providing a traditional sleepaway camp experience for girls.
